British Defence Secretary John Healey, who attended the 25th Ukraine Defence Contact Group Meeting held at Ramstein Air Base in Germany, announced that an international coalition led by the UK and Latvia will supply 30,000 drones to Ukraine. Healey said, “The unwavering courage of the Ukrainian people continues to inspire the world. This meeting, which brings together more than 50 countries, sends a clear message to (Russian President Vladimir) Putin about the international community’s support for Ukraine.”
Healey said, “The defence of the UK starts with Ukraine. “Providing military support to Ukraine is vital to both the national security of the UK and to support stability in Europe,” he said.
Healey also announced that the amount raised by the Ukraine International Fund, which is managed by the UK and undertakes the supply of priority systems such as air defense systems and artillery systems to Ukraine, has exceeded £1.3 billion.
In a statement made by the UK Ministry of Defense, it was stated that the international coalition established at the beginning of last year ordered 30,000 drones worth $55 million to be delivered to Ukraine, but no information was given as to when the drones would be delivered to Ukraine.
It was noted that the financing for the 30,000 unmanned aerial vehicles to be supplied to Ukraine will be provided by the UK, Denmark, the Netherlands, Latvia and Sweden. It was stated that the new unmanned aerial vehicles will be state-of-the-art and have a pilot’s view (FPV) and will help against Russian attacks. It was also stated that the new unmanned aerial vehicles will allow the Ukrainian armed forces to conduct maneuvers to bypass Russian air defense systems and target enemy positions and armored vehicles.
On the other hand, the Labour Party administration, which came to power in the UK in July last year, pledged to continue providing 3 billion pounds of military aid to Ukraine every year until 2030.
