The evacuation of American scientist Mark Dickey, who suffered stomach bleeding in the cave, has begun.

The health condition of US mountaineer Mark Dickey, who had stomach bleeding in Morca Cave, where he descended on September 3 with a group of 15 people for the expedition, improved with medication and blood transfusion at a depth of approximately 1040 meters. Evacuation work began yesterday evening after doctors decided that the patient could be carried on a stretcher. Dickey, who was first taken on a stretcher by the teams to the camp created at a depth of 700 meters, rested here. After widening some of the narrow passages, rescuers took action to deliver Dickey's stretcher to the other camp at a depth of 500 meters. The evacuation process, which will be carried out in 7 stages through camps created in different layers of the cave, continues.

The teams are ready at an altitude of 2,200 meters.
For the smooth completion of the evacuation, AFAD, UMKE, gendarmerie, European Cave Rescue Association (ECRA) and Turkish Caving Federation teams are standing by in the coordination tent set up in the region at an altitude of 2200 in the Taurus Mountains. 196 personnel from 8 countries are participating in the rescue effort.

The group consisting of 15 scientists, including foreign cave scientists, went down to the Morca Cave at a depth of 1276 meters on September 3 for exploration, and a team was dispatched to the region after one of the team members, Mark Dickey, was informed that he had stomach bleeding.
