The prisoner swap process is continuing as part of the first phase of the ceasefire agreement between Israel and Hamas that began to be implemented on January 19. Hamas will release another 6 Israeli hostages tomorrow as part of the 7th prisoner swap. In a statement made by the Palestinian Prisoners Media Office, it was stated that Israel is expected to release 602 prisoners in exchange for the hostages. It was stated that the list includes 50 prisoners sentenced to life imprisonment, 60 prisoners receiving long-term sentences, 47 prisoners who were released under the swap agreement in 2011 and then rearrested, and 445 Palestinians arrested after October 7, 2023.
Hamas' armed wing, the Izz ad-Din al-Qassam Brigades, announced today the names of the six male prisoners to be released tomorrow. The names of the prisoners were stated as "Eliya Cohen, Omer Shem-Tov, Omer Wenkert, Tal Shoham, Avera Mengistu and Hisham al-Sayed."
