A bus carrying university students collided with a truck on a highway near Nuporanga in the Brazilian state of Sao Paulo. A large number of police and medical teams were dispatched to the area. In a statement, authorities stated that 12 university students lost their lives and 21 were injured in the terrible accident. It was reported that all of those who died were students of the University of Franca, and the injured were taken to nearby hospitals. State Governor Tarcisio de Freitas declared a 3-day official mourning.
