US Special Representative for Ukraine and Russia Keith Kellogg made a statement regarding his meeting with Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelenskiy on his social media account. Describing Zelenskiy as a "courageous leader of a nation at war in a difficult situation," Kellogg said, "We had wide-ranging and positive talks with Zelenskiy and his talented national security team."
The press conference was canceled
Ukrainian President Zelenskiy met with Kellogg in the capital Kiev yesterday. The joint press conference planned by Zelensky and Kellogg was cancelled at the request of the US side. Zelensky made a statement on his social media account regarding the meeting, saying, "We had a productive meeting with Special Representative Kellogg. It was a good meeting and we discussed many important details. I am grateful to the US for all the assistance and non-partisan support provided to Ukraine and the Ukrainian people. Ukraine is ready for a strong and effective investment and security agreement with the US President."
Trump had described Zelensky as a "dictator"
US President Donald Trump had recently said of Zelensky, "Vladimir Zelensky, a modestly successful comedian, convinced the US to spend $350 billion on a war that could not be won and should never have started. The US spent $200 billion more than Europe. While Europe's money is guaranteed, the US will not get anything back," and had made the following statement: "Zelenski, a dictator who did not go to the polls, will not have a country left if he does not act quickly."
