Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskiy held contacts in the UK, where he arrived yesterday following the tensions he experienced with US President Donald Trump. Zelenskiy met with British Prime Minister Keir Starmer in the capital London.
Addressing the visiting President Zelenskyy during the press section of the meeting, Starmer said: "You have full support in the UK. We stand with you and Ukraine no matter how long it takes. I hope you heard some of that in the chants on the streets. The fact that the people of Britain have taken to the streets is an indication of the extent of our support for you and Ukraine and our unwavering determination to stand side by side with you. The goal we all want is a lasting peace based on Ukraine's sovereignty and security. This is extremely important for the UK and for Europe."
Zelenskyy will meet with King Charles tomorrow
Zelenskyy said he had seen many people on the streets of the UK showing their support for Ukraine and thanked them for the support they have received since the beginning of the war. Zelenskyy also thanked King Charles for agreeing to meet with him tomorrow, saying: "I am grateful to His Majesty the King for agreeing to meet with me tomorrow and to you for organising a major summit tomorrow. I am very happy to have such a strategic partner."
Zelenskiy and Starmer will attend the Ukraine summit tomorrow in London, where European leaders will gather, focusing on increasing support for Kiev to achieve a just and lasting peace in Ukraine.
