Trump confirms US-Hamas talks

US President Donald Trump made statements about the hostages held by Hamas during a signing ceremony held in the Oval Office. Stating that he had previously met with a group taken hostage by Hamas yesterday, Trump said that the stories he had heard were "unbelievable" and claimed that Hamas was mistreating the hostages. Stating that the Joe Biden administration had failed to bring the hostages back, Trump reminded that the hostages had begun to be released with his own administration. Trump confirmed the talks between the US and Hamas in response to a question, saying, "We are talking with Hamas. We are helping Israel in these talks. Because we are talking about Israeli hostages. We are not doing anything about Hamas. I see this as helping Israel." Emphasizing that the US did not pay any price to bring back the hostages, Trump said, "There is a difference between talking and paying a price."
