The accident occurred on the Hamzabeyli Border Gate road in Lalapaşa district. According to information received, the truck of Polish national truck driver Popowczak Mieczyslaw (71) broke down. Mieczyslaw pulled the truck to the side of the road and started to repair it with the mechanic he called. While climbing to the part of the truck that was stuck on the road, Mieczyslaw was hit by the truck with the license plate 50 DV 944 driven by Galip A. Mieczyslaw, who was thrown as a result of the truck hitting him and was stuck under the light commercial vehicle in front, was seriously injured. Ambulance, police and gendarmerie teams were dispatched to the scene upon notification. Despite all interventions, the seriously injured truck driver could not be saved and lost his life at Lalapaşa State Hospital, where he was taken by ambulance. The truck driver Galip A. was detained by gendarmerie teams to give his statement. The gendarmerie has launched an investigation into the accident.
