Following his announcement that approximately $8 billion in military aid would be provided to Ukraine to support it win the war against Russia, US President Joe Biden met with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy at the White House.

In a statement before the meeting, Biden stated that he was proud to host Zelenskyy again at the White House and said, “For nearly three years, the United States has brought together the entire world to stand with the Ukrainian people as they defend their freedom against Russian aggression, and providing Ukraine with the support it needs to prevail has been a top priority of my administration.” Noting that

Ukraine has recaptured more than half of the territory captured by Russia since the beginning of the war, Biden said, “However, there is still much work to be done. That is why today I am announcing increased security assistance to Ukraine and a number of additional measures that will help Ukraine win this war. I have instructed the Department of Defense to allocate all remaining security assistance funds allocated for Ukraine until the end of my term,” Biden said. Stating

that he will hold a leaders-level meeting of the Ukraine Defense Contact Group in Germany next month to coordinate the efforts of more than 50 countries supporting Ukraine in its defense against Russian aggression, Biden said, “The message I am sending with these actions is clear: The United States will provide Ukraine with the support it needs to win this war.”
