Advisor to Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Arakchi, Mohammad Hossein Rençberan, announced on his social media account that the assassination attempt on Arakchi was thwarted. Rençberan stated that following the announcement that Arakchi would go to Geneva, Switzerland, as part of nuclear negotiations with the Foreign Ministers of Britain, France and Germany, many people reached out to him, expressing their concern that "the Zionist regime would target him." Rençberan said in his post, "Yes, there was such a threat and there still is. However, Arakçi is not only a foreign minister, he also sees himself as a member of the homeland and desires martyrdom just like his beloved Qasem Soleimani."
Emphasizing that the assassination attempt failed, Rençberan said, "If it had not been for the measures taken by our security forces, perhaps the great conspiracy planned by Israel in Tehran a few days ago would have been implemented. Thank God, this attempt failed. Let us pray for Arakçi and other diplomats of our country in this inhumane world. May they be successful in defending Iran's rights."
