The milking process of Anzer Honey, which is produced from over 400 flower species, 40 of which are endemic, at the Anzer Plateau at an altitude of 2,300 meters, has been completed and sent to Hacettepe University for analysis. The honeys that came back with positive results from the analysis were put into 250-gram, 500-gram and 1-kilogram jars at the filling facilities of the Rize Beekeepers Association and made ready for sale. This year, the price per kilogram of Anzer Honey, which has been determined as 4 thousand TL, will find buyers for 2 thousand TL for 500 grams and 1 thousand TL for 250 grams. Although there is a considerable demand from abroad for Anzer Honey, which has a lower yield compared to other honeys, the priority in honey sales will be locals and patients with pre-orders
Noting that the analyses of the 2024-2025 honeys at Hacettepe University Faculty of Science have been completed, Anzer Ballıköy Agricultural Development Cooperative President Muzaffer Deniz stated that the honeys coming from the analyses have been filled and started to be sold, and said, “Our production season in Anzer Yaylası for the 2024 and 2025 seasons has ended and we sent them to Hacettepe University Faculty of Science Department. Our honeys have arrived from Hacettepe University as of October 25th after analysis. We have currently made the first mail filling of our honeys at Rize Beekeepers Association and started our sales. The price of 1 kilogram of our Anzer Honey this year has been determined as 4 thousand liras, half a kilo as 2 thousand liras, and our price of 250 grams of Anzer Honey has been determined as 1000 TL.”
High interest in Anzer Honey in Europe
Underlining that Azner Honey has also received approval from many foreign countries, Deniz said, “Our honey is an original product with a geographical indication and serial number. Of course, Anzer Honey is not a honey that is in large quantities like other honeys. In this sense, we see that Anzer Honey is currently in very high demand. In recent years, tourists who come to our country for tourism purposes, especially from Arab countries, also from European countries, especially from Germany, Switzerland, England, France, we also have foreign demands because they know Anzer Honey and know it as a valuable honey. We even see that there is demand for Anzer Honey from Singapore and Japan.”
Priority for local and patient orders
Deniz, who pointed out that even though there is a lot of demand from abroad, the priority for Anzer Honey is patients who pre-order, said, “Our first preference is the patients who pre-order in our country. We will give priority to them and send Anzer Honey to them first. Of course, our priority here will be patients first. First of all, pre-ordered orders will be sent first.”
